Indonesian People Still Ignoring Breakfast


Many adults and children ignore the breakfast. In fact, breakfast is not only supplies energy to move. With a nutritionally balanced breakfast regularly can prevent obesity.

At night, the body as in the fasting state. Currently there is no intake, blood glucose levels down. Consequently, the function of organs, especially the brain, impaired.

When initiating activity of on morning day of, breakfast becomes important. Eat regularly with snacks in between main meals beneficial stabilizing blood glucose levels. However, a survey in five major cities in Indonesia showed that 17 percent of adults not eat breakfast, and 13 percent did not eat breakfast every day. Numbers do not have breakfast in children varies from 17 percent in Jakarta, to 59 percent in Jogyakarta.

Analysis of food consumption data from the Health Research Association in 2010 showed that 26.1 percent of Indonesian children with breakfast only drink water. Although the breakfast, 44.6 percent of people eat foods with nutrition less than body requirements.

A good breakfast should meet the nutritional needs of 15-25 percent of daily needs. Food intake must be sufficient fiber, low fat, contain no trans fats, and complex carbohydrates. He regretted that some of the breakfast habits of Indonesia. Many who only eat carbs plus a little protein, such as fried noodles, fried rice with eggs, or rice with vermicelli uduk.

Parents, says Titis, plays a major role in regulating the diet and give examples of the child. If a limited time to prepare breakfast, parents can prepare a simple meal, but contain high nutrition, such as cereals or wheat bread has milk protein content.
